Working With Me

Initial Consultation

Your journey begins with a free, no-obligation consultation. This can be a brief 30 minute chat over the phone, an email exchange or one to one meeting and is an opportunity for you to ask questions, learn more about counselling, and get a feel for how I work. It's also a chance for us to see if we're a good fit for each other.

My Approach

My approach is person-centred which just means that I truly believe that you are the expert on your own life. My role is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings freely. I'm here to support and guide you, but you set the pace and direction of our sessions. In our work together and with your permission I incorporate insights from Polyvagal Theory, which helps us understand how our nervous system responds to stress and trauma. By learning to recognise and regulate these responses, we can find new ways to feel safe and calm. Part of our work together will also involve learning about how our minds and bodies work, especially in relation to stress and emotions. This knowledge can be empowering, helping us to understand and manage our experiences better.

Adult Counselling

As an adult, you may face various challenges - from anxiety and depression to relationship issues, work stress, or life transitions. I offer counselling to help you explore these issues, develop coping strategies, and work towards positive change. With extensive experience supporting both men and women, I'm particularly skilled in helping men navigate questions of identity, emotions, and life roles. Whether you're a man struggling with societal expectations or a woman facing your own set of challenges, I provide a supportive, non-judgmental space for all genders. I'm here to help with both short-term support and longer-term personal growth.

Counselling for Teenagers/Adolescents

The teenage years can be emotionally challenging. If you're between 14-19, counselling can offer a confidential space to talk about anything that's on your mind. This might include struggles with self-esteem, identity, family issues, school pressures, or relationships. My goal is to help you navigate these challenges, build resilience, and develop a stronger sense of self.

Issues I Can Help With

I offer support for a wide range of challenges that affect teenagers and adults alike. My expertise covers anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues, as well as questions of identity and self-worth. I specialise in helping individuals navigate through bereavement and all types of loss - not just the grief associated with losing a loved one, but also the complex emotions surrounding job loss, divorce, or significant life changes.

Whether you're struggling with work-related stress, family conflicts, or the pressures of major life transitions, I'm here to assist. My practice also extends to supporting those dealing with chronic illness, emotional regulation difficulties, and stress-related physical symptoms. From adolescent concerns to adult life hurdles, I'm committed to helping you address these issues and work towards improved well-being and personal growth.

Online Counselling

Online counselling offers a convenient and effective alternative to in-person sessions. It allows you to engage in therapy from the comfort of your own home, eliminating travel time and transportation issues. This can be particularly beneficial if you have a busy schedule, mobility challenges, or simply prefer the comfort of your own space. While the medium is different, the quality of our connection and the effectiveness of the therapy remain just as strong. I am happy to offer a combination of both face-to-face and online counselling if this is something you think you may prefer.
