Thank you for taking a look at my website, you really have taken an important step by coming here. Perhaps you're feeling lost, struggling with difficult emotions, or just need someone to really listen. Whatever your reason, I'm glad you're here. I believe seeking support is a sign of real strength and not a weakness as some may think. No matter what you're going through or how you are feeling, please don’t think you have to face it alone.
I am Lesley, and I am here to walk alongside you on your journey. As a BACP registered counsellor, I offer person-centred therapy both in my Urmston (Manchester) office and online. Working and supporting others is an important part of who I am. We are all unique individuals and valuing this uniqueness I would be honoured to listen and work with you as you share your experiences and begin your journey of growth.

I work with teenagers through to adults, helping to navigate the many challenges each day brings to our daily lives. This includes anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, questions of identity and self-worth, as well as bereavement and all types of loss—not just grief. My practice is deeply informed by The Polyvagal Theory, focusing on how our nervous systems respond to stress and trauma.
LGBTQ+ Counselling
In my commitment to supporting the LGBTQ+ community, I provide a safe, affirming space for individuals of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and expressions. This includes, but is not limited to, those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, pansexual, and non-binary. I understand the unique challenges and stressors that LGBTQ+ individuals may face, such as coming out, gender dysphoria, family acceptance, workplace discrimination, and navigating relationships in a heteronormative society. My practice offers support for these specific concerns, as well as general mental health issues that may be compounded by LGBTQ+ experiences.
Life doesn't come with a manual. Whether you're dealing with work stress, relationship difficulties, or simply feeling stuck, I'm here to help you find your way.
Whoever you are, and whatever you are going through I will commit to working with you in a respectful way, especially when the therapy feels painful.
Counselling is more than just talking—it's a collaborative process of growth and healing.
At the core of my practice is the belief in the transformative power of a strong therapeutic relationship. I strive to create a genuine, empathetic connection with every individual in my practice, providing a foundation of trust and understanding. In each session, you'll have the opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe, supportive environment.
Together, we'll work on understanding your experiences, developing healthy coping mechanisms, and building your emotional resilience. You'll learn to recognise your strengths, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and develop a kinder relationship with yourself. My aim is to provide a warm, empathetic space where you feel truly heard and supported as you work towards positive change.
Trauma isn't always what you might think. While it can stem from significant, life-altering events, trauma can also result from less obvious experiences that overwhelm our ability to cope. At its core, trauma is about how our nervous system responds to and processes these experiences.
Think of trauma as a dysregulation of our nervous system. It's like our internal alarm system gets stuck in the 'on' position, even when the danger has passed. This dysregulation can underpin a wide range of issues, from anxiety and depression to relationship difficulties and physical health problems. By understanding trauma through this lens, we can work together to help our nervous system find balance and resilience, paving the way for healing and growth.
